About the Charcoal Bengal Cat

The Charcoal Bengal could never be called delicate. He is an athlete, agile and graceful with a strong, muscular body, as befits a cat who looks as if he belongs in the jungle. The Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) is a small wild cat native to South-East Asia crossed with a domestic cat .

His broad head is a modified wedge shape, longer than it is wide, with rounded contours. Generally medium-size to small ears that are relatively short, set toward the side of the head. Large oval eyes are almost round. Joining the head to the body is a long, muscular neck.

Supporting the body are medium-length legs, slightly longer in the back than in the front, with large, round paws. A thick, medium-length tail tapers at the end and is tipped in black. When a Bengal rolls over, you can see that another characteristic is a spotted belly. Charcoal Bengal Cats have distinct markings. They have  what are called  "ZORRO"  Markings.

These markings consist  of a mask and a cape not all charcoal Bengal's will have both but will have a mask at maturity, just as most Asian Leopard Cats have ALC mask. The mask should be black and run strait down the nose bridge and have  white or near white goggles around there eyes which gives them there stunning looks unmistakable to the normal Bengal. They are recognised world wide  and considered rare due to genetic testing by UC Davies of California renowned for sample testing.

There pelts are not only silk like and soft to the touch but low maintenance as shedding is very minimal generally needing a light brush when seasons change. Low allergenic and highly intelligent they can be easily trained much like a dog. Not only is the Charcoal  Bengal beautiful to look at but extremely affectionate. All in all they are a wonderful breed and a pleasure to have. The Ultimate in Bengals......... The Charcoal Bengal.
